A subdomain is part of the DNS hierarchy; a domain that is part of a larger domain name. DNS hierarchy consists of the root-level domain at the top, underneath which are the top-level domains, followed by second-level domains and finally subdomains. For example, in the domain name cmf.3dresearch.com, "cmf" is a subdomain of the larger second-level domain "3dresearch.com".
At 3D RESEARCH, both your domain name and the "www" subdomain is pointed to your web site by default. Thus, you can find your web site under both yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com.
